Everything you need to know about Chat GPT (that’s actually been written by a human).

In summary…

  • Chat GPT: What, who, when, how.
  • Is Chat GPT going to provide everyone with a free Personal Assistant?
  • Are bots about to take over marketers’ jobs?

Chat GPT, developed by OpenAI with many high-profile investors (Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Reid Hoffman, and Peter Theil), is the most advanced chatbot of the century, with deep learning capabilities, natural language understanding and the ability to perceive context. They say 2023 is the year of AI mass adoption and we expect Chat GPT to revolutionise the marketing realm as its potential is manifesting rapidly.

Life is as fast-paced as ever in this decade. Chat GPT’s ability to personalise responses and recommendations enables people to streamline their daily life by simplifying them, whilst still living in a hustle culture. You want to write a speech for a 21st birthday? Tell Chat GPT your key points and it will do the rest. Too blunt? Tell it to make it sassier, more sensitive, or to add humour, and it will deliver. The more you give, the more you get.

What we see happening in the next six months…

Time is scarce and therefore valuable for busy people, hence why Personal Assistants (PA) are valued greatly. At Socialites, we believe Chat GPT could have the capacity to clone a PA over time. With access to your meeting schedule, your exercise goals, your social events, and everything in between, it can become the proactive PA everyone dreams of, with the bonus of being available whenever and wherever. It can work for you when you aren’t working, a 24/7 support system that holds more information than a human is capable of.

From impossible to at our fingertips, digital cloning is expected to become creepingly possible in the next few years. In the near future, we will see Chat GPT evolving its ability to learn your tone, understand your slang, get used to your habits, and work as a digital version of you, just by scanning your digital activity. At this current moment, responses can be robotic-like, with responses consisting of only words, no personality or emotions unless requested. However, we see Avatars making significant advancements in the progression of AI outside of Chat GPT. Soul Machine is an AI cooperation founded by New Zealanders, who have created the world’s most astonishing Digital People (as shown above). Soul Machines’ technology is being utilised by leading innovators to create engaging and emotional connections with users. Socialites predict that cutting-edge technologies such as the one Soul Machine is building, paired with Chat GPT (which is costing $100,000 a day to develop) could make realistic virtual Personal Assistants possible in the near future.

It could advance to not only clone Personal Assistants, but also other careers such as recruiters, stylists, digital apprentices, and more. If advanced digital cloning becomes possible, people could turn 25 completed tasks a week into 50. If you taught your online avatar all you know about your profession, and allowed access to your microphone and your data to gather information over time, it could mirror your experiences. Clients could hire a bot with equivalent experience at a cheaper rate, but without human interaction.

But what if I lose my job to a bot?

It’s not as straightforward as it seems. As humans, we need social interaction, it is part of our nature. Although the world has become incredibly digitized, people still find value in face-to-face interactions. People continue to go to the office for work, dine out, and visit retail stores, as these experiences cannot be fully replicated in the virtual world.

Take Try It Out for example, an Auckland restaurant that doesn’t have human waitstaff, instead it has the BellaBot – a robot that serves tables. This shows how our world is indeed becoming more digitally advanced but has it abolished waitstaff altogether? No. People enjoy going out for dinner to have human interaction, it is part of the experience. Not everyone wants to be served by a robot, therefore, not everyone will lose their job to a bot, you can stop stressing!

The future of AI and its impact on society is still uncertain, but there is no doubt that Chat GPT and other AI technologies have the potential to transform the way we live and work. This can be daunting, but as with any new technology, there are risks and challenges that come with exciting innovation and growth. The key to a successful and sustainable future for AI is to ensure that it is used ethically and responsibly, so as long as we don’t get out of hand, buckle up, and enjoy the ride, the future of AI could be an amazing adventure filled with endless opportunities!
